The last few weeks the fishing was absolutely amazing with a wide variety of game fish being landed.
With a lot of bait fish in the water and the birds showing us the bait balls and schools of anchovie and mackerel we have been able to land a lot of stunning fish.
The skipjacks are all over the place, and below them the yellowfin tuna and yellowtail are hunting together. Nice yellowfin tuna in the 12-20 kg class with a few fish over 30 kg have been brought to gaff.
The yellowtail are mostly caught on vertical jig and it is such a super sight to see them coming up from the bottom, chasing the jigs all the way and then making a grab, or attacking the jigs as it is dropped down, putting up a mean fight.
With he water still just below 20 deg C and clear blue on the 12 we expect the fish to be around for quite a while still. There is also a lot of chokka in the area, and this is helping to keep the fish around.
We are looking forward to some great ctches in the next few weeks still, and you should make use of this opportunity to fish the rich Agulhas waters while the fish is still around - before winter sets in.
