An Overberg Angling Conservation Initiative, in collaboration with Awesome Charters, in conjunction with the Two Oceans Aquarium and the South African Shark Conservancy, are offering you the chance to be part of the hunting of the oceans most feared predators at the southern most tip of Africa, where the two oceans meet.
Hard fighting Bronze Whaler sharks, dogged Ragged Tooth sharks, ocean dwelling Blue sharks, explosive Mako sharks and the incredible Hammerheads roam the warm ocean currents of the Agulhas banks.
An exciting shark conservation programme focused on the tagging and releasing of sharks. All sharks targeted by Overberg Angling and Awesome Charters are tagged and released, and specimens of parasites and DNA are taken for further studies. This valuable scientific data will be used for the development of a geographic information system (GIS) database and information management system containing relevant distribution, biological and gear-specific information.
The waters around Struisbaai and Agulhas are known for the wide variety of sharks species that inhabit this area. Deep sea angling for sharks is an exciting sport that taxes the angler and its equipment to the fullest. There are few sounds as exciting to an offshore angler as a screaming reel, and the feeling of solid power at the end of the line when you set the hook. Shark angling is an adrenaline rush - followed by a taxing hard fight.
If you want to join us in this exciting shark conservation programme focused on the tagging and releasing of sharks- and hopefully a photo of you with a shark next to the boat, then book your trip
